THE NEXT STEP IN THE EVOLUTION OF THE LEXUS HYBRID

LEXUS LF-CC COUPE CONCEPT

After years of meticulous planning, research and development, Lexus unveiled its stunning, all-new, hybrid coupe concept. The LF-CC made its world debut at the 2012 Paris International Motor Show, which points to future mid-size luxury vehicles to come from the Lexus marque.

Stunning exterior

Representing the latest evolution of the unique L-finesse design language, the LF-CC features the Lexus signature spindle grille, which is encased in a deep, metal-finish surround and takes on a pronounced, 3D form.

The secret is all in the details. Further developing a design form initiated on the LF-LC concept and the high-performance LFA, the airflow-regulating fin flows from underneath the side of the car and upwards through the rear wheel arch. This aerodynamic detail is designed to increase downforce over the driven wheels, further improving traction.

Pure driving pleasure

The driver's seat has been designed with supreme comfort, safety and accessibility in mind, combining outstanding ergonomics with advanced HMI technologies. The driver benefits from a highly focused driving position with a sports steering wheel, optimum pedal placement and high-visibility instrument dials.

Coordinating with the 'Fluid Titanium' exterior colour, the seats, door panels and instrument binnacle hood are trimmed in a warm, elegant amber leather finish. The contrast between the exterior and interior colour schemes gives the car an elegant yet simultaneously sporting image.

The Lexus team has created an all-new aerodynamic design for the vehicle - a perfect blend of form and function.

Two-zone dashboard

Step into the driver's seat and you'll experience the Lexus cabin layout of the future, a further development of the HMI (Human Machine Interface) design philosophy.

In a continued evolution of Lexus' interior design, the dashboard is divided into two distinct zones. The upper Display Zone features a multi-display screen for easy viewing at a glance; the Operation Zone provides access to the unique shift lever and innovative touch tracer display for remote system control. This clear division of zones combines an airy, spacious cabin and sporting cockpit features, creating a highly focused driving environment.

Power when you need it

In addition to the petrol engine and electric motor, the LF-CC hybrid drive system also comprises a generator, a high-performance battery and a power split device. According to the driving requirements, power from the engine, electric motor and generator is combined and re-allocated using planetary reduction gears. There's also a compact power control unit to govern the high-speed interaction of the system components.

Adapted specifically for the hybrid powertrain, the all-new 2.5 litre, DOHC, 4-cylinder petrol engine benefits from several technical improvements. Adopting the Atkinson cycle and D-4S direct injection technology, both the power and fuel-efficiency benefits of Lexus Hybrid Drive are optimised to reach their full potential.
